DRIVER'S LICENSE CONVERSION

REPLACEMENT OF DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH A NEW-STYLE CARD

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The required documents needed to replace your driver’s license with a new-style card:

- 2 color passport-style photos.

– A photocopy of your ID card or passport and residence permit.

– Old-style driver's license (pink).

We will handle the issuance and payment of the fees required to replace your driver’s license with the new card-style version. The final deadline for replacement with the new card-style version is January 19, 2033.

DRIVING LICENSE CONVERSION

CONVERSION OF A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE TO AN AMATEUR LICENSE

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The required documents needed to convert a commercial driver's license to a private driver's license:

- 2 color passport-style photos.

– A photocopy of your ID card or passport and residence permit.

– Driving license.

- Application form - solemn declaration

– Application to print a driver's license.

FEES

The fees required to convert a commercial driver's license to a private driver's license

– Driver’s license printing fee, costs 30€

OVERALL FEES: 30€

We handle the issuance and payment of the fees required to convert your commercial driver’s license to a recreational one.

If the driver’s license has been submitted to the EFKA (OAEE-IKA) for retirement purposes, a certificate from the aforementioned social security funds and a photocopy of the driver’s license must be submitted.

DRIVING LICENSE CONVERSION

FROM AN EU MEMBER STATE TO GREEK

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The documents required to convert a driver’s license issued by an EU member state into a corresponding Greek license:

- 2 color passport-style photos.

– A photocopy of your ID card or passport and residence permit.

– Official translation of a foreign driver’s license by a lawyer or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (If the text of the translation does not specify which vehicles the license holder is permitted to drive, a relevant certificate from the competent authority that issued the license must be submitted, along with a translation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a lawyer)

– Submission of the valid foreign driver’s license that the applicant wishes to have replaced.

- Application form - solemn declaration

– Application to print a driver's license.

FEES

The fees required to convert a driver’s license issued by an EU member state into a corresponding Greek license:

– Driver’s license printing fee, costs 30€

OVERALL FEES: 30€

If your driver's license has expired, you will also need to renew it.

DRIVING LICENSE CONVERSION

FROM SWITZERLAND TO A SIMILAR GREEK ONE

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The documents required to convert a Swiss driver's license into a corresponding Greek one:

– 4 color photos, passport-sized.

– A photocopy of your ID card or passport and residence permit.

– A certificate from an ophthalmologist and a general practitioner, as well as photocopies of the two payment receipts from the doctors (€10 + €10).

– An official translation of a foreign driver’s license by a lawyer or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If the text of the translation does not specify which vehicles the license holder is permitted to drive, a relevant certificate from the competent authority that issued the license must be submitted, along with a translation thereof by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a lawyer.

– In the latter case, the Consul’s signature must be authenticated by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

– A document issued by the authority that issued the driver’s license, containing all the details of the license and its holder, and certifying that the license has not been suspended by any authority in the issuing country due to any criminal conviction. This document must be submitted by the applicant via mail, through the relevant Greek consulate, to the competent Transport Authority, and must be translated as described above.

– Submission of the valid foreign driver’s license that the applicant wishes to have replaced.

Requirement: The applicant entered Greece at least 12 months ago and remained on Greek territory for at least three consecutive months during that 12-month period.

FROM THE U.S. – CANADA – AUSTRALIA – JAPAN- SOUTH AFRICA - SOUTH KOREA TO A GREEK ONE

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The required documents needed to convert a driver’s license from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Africa, or South Korea into a corresponding Greek license:

– 4 color photos, passport-sized.

– A photocopy of your ID card or passport and residence permit.

– A certificate from an ophthalmologist and a general practitioner, as well as photocopies of the two payment receipts from the doctors (€10 + €10).

– An official translation of a foreign driver’s license by a lawyer or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If the text of the translation does not specify which vehicles the license holder is permitted to drive, a relevant certificate from the competent authority that issued the license must be submitted, along with a translation thereof by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a lawyer.

Driver’s licenses from South Africa are converted to Greek licenses provided they are laminated (plastic card type), as issued in that country.

Licenses from the above countries marked “Provisional License” are not converted into Greek licenses.
