REQUIREMENTS
A valid existing driving license issued by the UK which bears the indication 'Provisional Driving Licence' does not fall under the provisions of the current decision and, therefore, cannot be exchanged for a Greek one.Any category included in a UK driving license with an issuance date at point 4a of the document later than 02/02/2021 is not exchangeable, provided that on the date indicated at point 4a, the applicant had their habitual residence in Greece.
A Driver Qualification Card (DQC) issued by the UK with a date later than 02/02/2021 shall not be incorporated into a Greek driving license, provided that on the date of issuance, the applicant had their habitual residence in Greece. The category or categories of the UK-issued driving license to be exchanged must be valid.
The Driver Qualification Card (DQC) to be incorporated must be valid, in the event that the applicant holds a valid DQC issued by the UK. [The applicant must declare] that they do not hold any other driving license from Greece, an EU Member State, or a third country, and that their license has not been revoked or suspended by any authority.
If the applicant is a national of another EU Member State, they shall submit a photocopy of their identity card or passport, while for a third-country national, a photocopy of their passport or other document authorizing their entry into Greece, or a document issued by a competent Greek authority, is required. This document must clearly indicate the person's identity and age. A simple photocopy of any valid public document, in accordance with applicable provisions, is required if the applicant is not a Greek national, certifying the applicant’s habitual residence in Greece, such as:
– Residence Permit.
– Registration Certificate for an EU Member State citizen.
– Document certifying the permanent residence of an EU Member State citizen.
– Protocol Identity Card, which (as stated on the document itself) serves as a residence permit.
– Certificate of submission of documents for the issuance or renewal of a Type A Residence Permit.
– Special Identity Card for Ethnic Greeks (Omogenis).
The aforementioned document must have been issued at least one hundred and eighty-five (185) days prior to the date of submission of the application to the Transport and Communications Service. Submission of said document with the application before the 185-day period has elapsed is permitted. In such a case, to satisfy the requirement of certifying the applicant's habitual residence in Greece, at least two (2) additional pieces of evidence covering the critical period in question must be submitted in addition to this document. By way of example, two (2) of the following may be submitted: tax records in Greece, proof of home ownership or a lease agreement, a document certifying the applicant's social security coverage, proof of children's enrollment in education, utility bills (electricity, telephone, or water), etc.
