Driver’s license renewal for ages 65 to 80!
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
The documents required to renew a driver's license:
– 2 color photos, passport-sized.
– A photocopy of your ID card or passport and residence permit
– A photocopy of your driver’s license, or the original if it has expired.
– Social Security Number
– T.I.N.
– A certificate from an ophthalmologist and a general practitioner, as well as photocopies of the two payment receipts from the doctors.

– A certificate from an internist and a photocopy of the payment receipt.
– A statement from a neurologist or psychiatrist and a photocopy of the payment receipt.
– A certificate from an otolaryngologist and a photocopy of the payment receipt.

REMARKS - DATES
– Amateur driver’s licenses issued after January 19, 2013: renewal 15 years after issuance.
-Amateur driver's licenses issued before January 19, 2013: renewal when the holder turns 65 or by January 19, 2033 (the expiration date for old licenses), whichever comes first.
– Commercial driver’s licenses: renewal every 5 years. A medical examination by the following specialists is required: internist, ophthalmologist,
– From the age of 65 to 80, driver’s licenses must be renewed every 3 years. A medical examination by the following specialists is required: an internist and an ophthalmologist.
– Starting at age 80, renewal is required every 2 years. An examination by the following specialists is required: internist, ophthalmologist, otolaryngologist, and neurologist or psychiatrist.
