REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
To proceed with the driver's license application process, the following documents are required:
– 3 recent color photos, passport-sized.
– A photocopy of your ID card or passport, as well as your residence permit (if required)
– Social Security Number
– Tax Identification Number (TIN)
– Medical certificates from an ophthalmologist and a general practitioner, along with copies of the doctors’ payment receipts
- Completed Application – solemn declaration
– Application to have a driver's license printed
Applicants must have their personal TaxisNet codes on hand, as they are required for the online submission of applications and approvals via the gov.gr platform. If there are no active TaxisNet codes, they must first be issued through the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) or a Citizen Service Center (KEP) before the process can begin.
FEES
The following fees are required to obtain a driver's license:
– Single application for initial issuance feed (any category): costs €105 (3691)
– Digital transaction for issuing a driver’s license fee: costs €15 (3687)
– Fee for upgrading to categories AM, A1, A2, A, or B: costs 8,80€ (3688)
- Theory exam fee, costs 15€ (2037)
– 2 Practical Exam fees: costs 15€ each one (2038)
Overall fees: 173,80€

The prospective driver must attend:
Theory exams: 21 hours of study traffic code and 11 hours of study about motorcycle.
Practical lessons: 25 hours of car driving & 12 hours of motorcycle riding.
A class period is 45 minutes long.

DRIVING PRIVILEGES
For a driver's license (Category B)
The license is valid for 15 years, after which it must be renewed.
Category A1
Category A2
The power-to-weight ratio must not exceed 0.2 kW/kg.
Category A
Riders are permitted to ride motorcycles without restrictions on engine displacement, power, or power-to-weight ratio. The operation of three-wheeled vehicles with a power output exceeding 15 kW (20.12 horsepower) is permitted.
REQUIREMENTS
What do I need to know to determine if I am eligible to obtain a driver's license for car and motorcycle.
– Applicants must be at least 17 years old to obtain a car driver’s license and at least 18 years old for an A1 motorcycle license. For an A2 license, applicants must be at least 20 years old, and for an A license, at least 24 years old.
– The applicant must have been a legal resident of Greece or have held the status of a student for at least six (6) months in Greece, either continuously or cumulatively, over the past twelve months.
– If the applicant is a foreign national, they must have held a residence permit or a work permit for 6 consecutive months prior to submitting the application for a driver’s license.
For nationals of EU member states or of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, a certificate of registration as a citizen of an EU member state is required, which must have been issued 95 days prior to submitting the application for a driver’s license, along with photocopies of these documents.
